At Uniting Communities, we are committed to preventing youth homelessness through high-quality, person-centred support. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner to lead clinical excellence, support our Counselling team, and contribute as a key member of the Ruby’s & Reconnect leadership group.

About the Role

This is a senior clinical and leadership role responsible for ensuring practice aligns with the Ruby’s & Reconnect Service Models while supporting and developing a team of Counsellors and Youth Workers.

You will:

• Lead and supervise the Ruby’s & Reconnect Counselling teams, including reflective practice and professional development
• Ensure high-quality, ethical, and trauma-informed service delivery
• Provide therapeutic counselling and case management to young people and families
• Oversee clinical governance processes including file audits, case reviews, and service evaluation
• Support staff capability through training, coaching, and supervision
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve client outcomes
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and service innovation

What You’ll Bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related field
• Experience in counselling and working with young people and families with complex needs
• Strong understanding of trauma, adolescent development, and therapeutic frameworks (e.g. narrative therapy, family systems, attachment theory)
• Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and develop staff
• Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills
• A collaborative, solutions-focused approach aligned with our values

Desirable

• Experience managing counselling services or teams
• Knowledge of the South Australian homelessness sector
• Training in clinical supervision or leadership
