At Uniting Communities, we are committed to preventing youth homelessness through high-quality, person-centred support. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Practitioner to lead clinical excellence, support our Counselling team, and contribute as a key member of the Ruby’s & Reconnect leadership group.
About the Role
This is a senior clinical and leadership role responsible for ensuring practice aligns with the Ruby’s & Reconnect Service Models while supporting and developing a team of Counsellors and Youth Workers.
You will:
- Lead and supervise the Ruby’s & Reconnect Counselling teams, including reflective practice and professional development
- Ensure high-quality, ethical, and trauma-informed service delivery
- Provide therapeutic counselling and case management to young people and families
- Oversee clinical governance processes including file audits, case reviews, and service evaluation
- Support staff capability through training, coaching, and supervision
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve client outcomes
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and service innovation
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related field
- Experience in counselling and working with young people and families with complex needs
- Strong understanding of trauma, adolescent development, and therapeutic frameworks (e.g. narrative therapy, family systems, attachment theory)
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and develop staff
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach aligned with our values
Desirable
- Experience managing counselling services or teams
- Knowledge of the South Australian homelessness sector
- Training in clinical supervision or leadership
