About the Role
As a 13HELP Crisis Supporter, you will deliver high-quality crisis support via phone, working within the Lifeline Australia Practice Framework. You will help individuals experiencing distress, provide emotional support, encourage safety planning, promote suicide prevention, and ensure accurate data recording within Lifeline systems.
You’ll collaborate with the Lifeline network nationally, participate in team meetings, engage in supervision, and contribute to continuous service improvement. This role is suited to someone who is calm under pressure, empathetic, and committed to helping others.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing emotional support and crisis intervention using the Lifeline CARE Framework
- Assisting help-seekers to navigate distress and identify safety options
- Offering information about relevant community and support services
- Recording call data accurately and promptly
- Engaging with ISS (Immediate Safety Support) when required
- Participating in supervision, self-care, and team development activities
- Upholding compliance, safety, and ethical standards
- Contributing to a collaborative, caring, and high-performing team environment
What We’re Looking For:
- Fully accredited Lifeline Phone Crisis Supporter
- Successfully completed Lifeline Crisis Supporter Workplace Training
- Experience using the Lifeline CARE Framework and Decision Support Tool (DST)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and engage with diverse callers
- Strong customer-service ethic and empathy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong administration skills
- Ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Working With Children Check and National Police Check
Desirable
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Unrestricted driver’s licence
