Who we are and what we do!

Rubys Reunification program has been working for over 25 years keeping families together and preventing youth homelessness. We do this by working with the family unit and, as our name suggests, reunification back into the family home.

Our service aims to keep families together and keep young people safe. We do this by providing a wrap-around service that engages families in a meaningful way. We also work in collaboration with services and the community to promote wellbeing and healing.

As a Youth Worker, you will actively and positively engage with young people and their families who are experiencing high degrees of conflict in the home causing the young person to be at risk of, or currently experiencing, homelessness.

The youth worker role is a crucial part of this holistic service by providing therapeutic supports as outlined in our service model (see below).

About the Role: 

The Ruby’s youth worker role is more than your typical youth worker role-

Youth workers at Rubys:

• Engage with the whole family, including meaningful engagement activities with parents and young people.
• Take on a “Key worker” role, taking an active role in helping set goals with the young people with a focus on family, supports in the community and self.

This is outworked by being part of a collaborative team, engaging with young people and their families with a therapeutic, strengths-based approach; providing a caring, supportive environment for young people; and encouraging young people to engage with the community. 

About You:

• Cert IV in Youth Work or equivalent.  Please refer to the minimum-qualification-training-requirement (1).docx for additional qualifications checklist.  
• Experience working with young people and families and knowledge of adolescent development
• Experience with supporting individuals and or families through conflict and crisis situations.
• Hold and maintain a full, unrestricted South Australian Driver’s License
• Willing to under-go psychometric testing including a 1:1 interview with a psychologist to assess psychological suitability for the role.
• A medical assessing physical suitability for the role and it’s demands.
• Team player, can-do attitude and developed written and verbal communication skills

About the Remuneration

This role is remunerated at the Uniting Communities General Staff Agreement, Youth Worker – Level 1 with different increments dependent on previous experience and qualifications.
