Family Advisor

The Family Advisor role involves integrated intake and assessment services, counselling, therapeutic workshops, and networking to strengthen family relationships and support families through separation, with a focus on children's rights to maintain meaningful relationships with both parents.

0.6FTE (3 days per week preferred) Fixed term contract for 6 months with possibility of extension.  Based in our Christies Beach Office. 

About the Role

As a Family Advisor, you’ll be the first point of contact for families in the Onkaparinga, Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island regions. You will:

  • Provide compassionate front-line support, information, and referrals to families.

  • Conduct intake and assessments to ensure safety and wellbeing.

  • Design and Facilitate individual counselling, parenting programs, and therapeutic workshops.

  • Work closely with community partners to build strong referral pathways.

  • Maintain timely and accurate case notes and contribute to data reporting.
  • Help families navigate challenges like separation, domestic and family violence, and mental health concerns—always keeping children’s best interests at heart.

About You

You are someone who:

  • Holds a degree in Counselling, Social Work, Behavioural Sciences or similar.

  • Brings experience in case management, counselling, and therapeutic frameworks.

  • Understands the impacts of family/domestic violence and mental health challenges.

  • Can connect with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and network with community partners.

  • Confident in travelling throughout the community and being involved with local events
