Are you passionate about creating real change in the lives of young men impacted by family and domestic violence? Join the GRIT Program at Uniting Communities and play a vital role supporting young males to build safe, healthy, and respectful relationships for life.
We’re looking for a skilled Counsellor/Case Manager who can engage young people through a mix of evidence-based counselling, assertive outreach, and meaningful community engagement.
About the Role
In this rewarding position, you will:
- Provide one-to-one counselling using evidence-based modalities.
- Work flexibly across office, home, school, and community settings.
- Support young men to engage in pro-social activities, including cultural, sport, and art-based activities.
- Build positive relationships with families and support networks to enhance safety and wellbeing.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, case planning, and case reviews.
- Prepare professional reports, case notes, and maintain accurate client records.
- Collaborate with internal and external service providers and represent GRIT in presentations and community events.
You will maintain a caseload of approximately 20 active clients and play a central role in delivering group and community engagement programs.
About You
You will thrive in this role if you have:
- A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience delivering therapeutic counselling to young people and working within a family/domestic violence context.
- Strong communication and engagement skills, with the ability to quickly build trust.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and think flexibly.
- A commitment to culturally respectful practice, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
Essential checks: Driver’s Licence, National Police Check, Working with Children Check, First Aid & CPR.
